Body fat percentage analyzer

OK, you may be losing weight but still don't look as good as Charlize Theron. How can this be! Perhaps your not losing fat.

If so, consider monitoring your body fat percentage. Because it gives a better indication about how you look than losing weight alone.

Most celebrities with defined bodies e.g. Tiger Woods or Britney Spears have low fat percentages, but can carry a bit more muscle than your average joe. Britney needs it to dance and Tiger Woods, to golf.

Indeed, many fitness concious people monitor fat more than body weight. A main point to note is that muscle weighs more than fat . So if you put on muscle and lose fat, your weight may stay the same, but your overall look will be far better.

Body fat percentage - why is it so important to dieting

Often, when dieters lose weight, they often put it back on, with more to on top!!

Losing muscle can cause this, as during dieting, your body can potentially lose a lot of muscle, and in turn slows down your metabolism. This means your will need less food per day to maintain the same weight. Bam! When you start to eat normally again you put on weight faster than before.

A benefit of more muscle is that your body burns more calories per day. Approximately 40 K Cals per pound of muscle.

When you diet, ideally you should lose weight whilst maintaining the muscle you have.

How can you monitor fat

Body fat analyzer's are available in the high street and usually cost anything from $50 to $140 (£25 to £70). They work by sending a small electrical current thorough your body. This determines how much your body conducts electricity. By using this information, tha fat monitor is able to calculate your percentage.

This is perfectly safe. The power used by the fat analyser is very small and powered by a small battery.

How accuarate are fat analysers

The more expensive body fat percentage analyzer are normally the most accurate. However, a mid range one from the high street store can certainly give you a generally accurate reading. Indeed, the most important use of a fat analyser is the ability to show you that you are losing fat, so most decent fat analysers are useful.
